Delhi Police Arrest 3 For Painting & Selling Fire Extinguishers As Oxygen Cylinders, 532 Cylinders Seized

The three accused arrested by Delhi Police were painting the fire extinguishers to make them look like oxygen cylinders and later sell to needy people at an exorbitant rate amid ongoing Oxygen crisis in national capital.

Delhi Police have arrested three people for cheating Coronavirus patients by selling them fire extinguishers instead of life-saving oxygen cylinders. During the investigation of the black marketing of oxygen cylinder, the Delhi Police got great success.

Police reached a scrap godown in Alipur where three people were found engaged in painting some gas cylinders in black color, the officer said. The accused were painting the fire extinguishers to make them look like oxygen cylinders and later sell to needy people at an exorbitant rate amid ongoing Oxygen crisis in national capital.

Delhi Police seized 532 iron gas cylinders of different sizes from the godown out of which 73 fwere already painted. Police have also recovered 2 electric grinders from godown which were used to remove the red paint of the cylinders. The police also found 26 oxygen gas nozzles. 

Police have arrested the three accused who were playing with the lives of people by selling them fire extinguishers instead of an oxygen cylinders.  According to the police, the three accused used to collect the empty or expired fire extinguisher cylinders and sell it either as scrap or refill the CO2 for fire-fighting.

In this epidemic, the accused started committing fraud by removing red paint from fire extinguishers, after making black and silver paint, they started selling them in the market by making them look like oxygen cylinders. During the interrogation, the accused have confessed to selling many such cylinders in the market.

Experts say that these fire extinguishers can prove to be fatal because oxygen is injected into the oxygen cylinder using hight pressure.  In such a situation, these fire extinguishers can burst, which can also lead to a major accident.
