Delhi: After Mohammadpur, BJP Prepares List Of 40 Villages For Name Change
The reason given behind demand for changing of these names were that it is a “symbol of slavery” and that “people themselves want to change it.”
New Delhi: After the Delhi BJP chief said that south Delhi’s Mohammadpur village has been changed to Madhavpuram, the party has prepared a list of 40 villages in the national capital to change their name.
The list has been prepared and soon its proposal will be sent to the Delhi government through the corporation, sources told ABP News.
A proposal to change the name of Mohammadpur of South Delhi to Madhavpuram was sent by BJP to the Delhi Government after passing it in South Delhi city, on which nothing has happened so far.
The reason given behind demand for changing of these names were that it is a “symbol of slavery” and that “people themselves want to change it.”

According to Delhi BJP President Adesh Gupta, “this decision has been taken by the people of the village because this name is a symbol of slavery. Therefore, the councillors of BJP will pass it in the house of the corporation and send it to the Delhi government through the MCD commissioner.”
Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government cornered the saffron party, saying why the name was not changed when BJP had the power in the corporation for 15 years. It further alleged that this is being done as the elections are drawing close adding that development work will not get done automatically by changing the name.
On Wednesday Delhi BJP chief, Adesh Gupta, took to Twitter saying that south Delhi’s Mohammadpur village has been changed to Madhavpuram. He said that since the Aam Aadmi Party-led government did not act on the proposal submitted by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation in December, the party members have renamed the place on their own.
