The important decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday where he said that the Government has been working hard for over a year to ensure that maximum numbers of Indians are able to get the vaccine in the shortest possible time.
Meanwhile, several nations including USA and UK have warned citizens to avoid travel to India. The decision was in light of surging case numbers and the emergence of a new Covid-19 variant in India. Britain imposed its strictest travel curbs hours after Prime Minister Boris Johnson called off a trip to New Delhi.
Delhi registers highest COVID figures of 277 deaths, over 28k cases
Amid a "serious oxygen crisis" unfolding in the city, a record 28,395 coronavirus cases and 277 deaths were recorded in Delhi on Tuesday as the positivity rate shot up to 32.82 per cent -- meaning every third sample came out positive. In the last six days, Delhi has reported 1,100 deaths due to Covid-19.
