CM M.K Stalin Releases 3,000 Cusecs Of Water For Irrigation From Mettur Dam
Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday opened the streams of Mettur dam for delta irrigation. To begin with, around 3,000 cubic feet was released from the dam around 11.30am on Saturday for Kuruvai cultivation a day after he inspected irrigation works in delta districts.
Chennai: Stalin took to Twitter to announce the release of Cauvery water and suggested farmers to use it efficiently.
CM tweeted, "I have opened 3000 cubic feet of water from the Mettur dam for the cultivation of Kuruvai crop. Water will be provided as needed in the coming months as well. Tamil Nadu will prosper if Delta prospers," he said.
Marking history Stalin stick to to the schedule and opened the dam on June 12 for irrigation.
Around 5.21 lakh acres of agricultural land in Delta regions would be irrigated by the water released from Stanley Reservoir. After the opening the sluice gates of the dam, Stalin said, "The government is keen on increasing the net cultivable area every year in the state."
