Cleveland Misfit, Ace Deluxe Pricing Revealed For India
The two motorcycles will enter the country via the CKD route and will go on sale from this month
Cleveland Cyclewerks has revealed the prices of its two India-bound products, the Ace Deluxe and Misfit. The Misfit costs Rs 2.5 lakh while the Ace Deluxe is priced at Rs 2.24 lakh (both ex-showroom India). At this price, the Misfit is the most affordable cafe racer in the country after the discontinuation of the Royal Enfield Continental GT. However, it would be too soon to say it justifies its price tag.
The two motorcycles draw power from a 229cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that’s mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The carbureted motor produces 15.4PS of peak power at 7000rpm and 16Nm of torque at 6000rpm.
Going by the engine configuration and power output, the pricing seems to be on the higher side. This might be down to the company’s CKD approach, with imports coming in from China and being assembled in Pune, India. 6-7 per cent of the parts are localised including parts like tyres, headlights, wire assembly and fluids.
To put things into perspective, a similarly sized (displacement-wise) Bajaj Pulsar 220F costs only Rs 96,448. For the price Cleveland is asking, you can get the KTM 390 Duke at Rs 2.4 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom Delhi). The Duke offers a whole lot of kit with way more power and torque output.
Both the bikes are equipped with upside down front forks, twin rear shock absorbers and disc brakes on both ends. The bikes are expected to have ABS once they go on sale this month as the safety regulations require new bikes displacing more than 125cc to have the essential safety feature.
Cleveland Cyclewerks will open its first dealership in Mumbai this month, followed by Pune, Indore, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kochi,Trivandrum, Hosur, Salem and Coimbatore in the future. Thirty more cities are planned to be added to this list, but that will be confirmed by 2019. The Ace Deluxe and Misfit don’t really compete against the current crop of motorcycles in the segment, considering its pricing, output figures and displacement.
