CBSE Board Exams 2021: PM Modi To Meet Edu Min To Discuss CBSE 10, 12 Exams Issue Amid Rising Covid Cases

Amid the rising number of Coronavirus cases across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to hold a meeting with Education Minister, Secretary, and other important officials at 12 noon on Wednesday to discuss the issue of the CBSE Board Exams 2021, said Govt of India sources. 

CBSE Board Exam 2021: Board Exams For Class 10 Cancelled & 12th Postponed

The crucial meeting has come after nearly 1 lakh students of class 10 and class 12 signed an online petition demanding cancellation of boar exams 2021. Several political parties, ministers, and celebrities including Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and actor Sonu Sood have stood in support of student's demand.

Responding to their appeal, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) earlier this month stated that the examinations will take place, but with all necessary arrangements in place.

A senior official from the Ministry of Education official was quoted by TOI as saying: “The only point of discussion are the dates as the number of cases are rising. There are still around three weeks left and developments, including an increase in the number of Covid infections and containment zones, are being discussed as part of assessing the situation. The primary discussion point is the safety of the students and teachers and that will not be compromised.”

The CBSE board examinations are scheduled to begin on 4 May and will end on 7 June for class 10 students and 11 June for class 12 students. Results for both classes are expected by July 15.
