Karnataka Governor Accepts CM Yediyurappa’s Resignation

Earlier on Saturday, BJP President JP Nadda hailed CM Yeddiyurappa's rule in Karnataka

Bengaluru: Karnataka CM BS Yeddiyurappa finally put an end to the speculations of change of guard in the state as he submitted his resignation today. Governor Thawarchand Gehlot has accepted the stepping down of Yeddiyurappa.  

Yeddiyurappa was at a programme to mark the celebration of his governance for two years where he announced that he would be meeting governor Thawarchand Gehlot after lunch at 2 PM.

Taking to Twitter about his decision of stepping down as the CM, he wrote: "I am going to resign as chief minister today. With the support of the people of the state, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, National President JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah With the cooperation of everyone, I am satisfied that all the legislators have made a concerted effort to give the party a 2-year pro-development administration."

Outgoing CM Yeddiyurappa also made it clear that no one has forced him to leave and the decision was of his own. He assured that he will work towards bringing BJP to power in the next assembly elections. He also revealed that he hasn't given any successors names to the high command.

After Yeddiyurappa's decision of stepping down as CM, Minister for Medical Education of Karnataka, K Sudhakar expressed that Yeddiyurappa's decision came as a shocker.

Earlier on Saturday, BJP President JP Nadda hailed Yeddiyurappa's rule in the state of Karnataka which hinted that the CM was about to resign for the post. Meanwhile, BJP top brass has selected eight persons for the post of the chief minister, which will be announced in a due course of time.
