Congress To Launch 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' On Wednesday
The Congress will begin its 3,570-km long 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' at a mega rally in Kanyakumari on Wednesday. Congress said it is holding the rally as a fight against ideologies and problems of economic disparities, social polarization and political centralisation.
Former Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will attend a prayer meeting at the Samadhi of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in Sriperumbudur on Wednesday, before starting the 'Bharat Jodi Yatra'. He will then attend an event in Kanyakumari where Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will be present. The national flag of Khadi will be handed over to Rahul here.
After the program at the Mahatma Gandhi Mandapam where Stalin will be present, Rahul along with other Congress leaders will go to the venue of the public rally where the yatra will be formally launched.
NDMC Special Meeting To Approve Proposal Of Renaming Rajpath
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) will hold a special meeting on Wednesday to approve the proposal to rename the Rajpath as 'Kartavya Path', civic functionaries said on Tuesday.
The proposal has been received from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and it will be placed before the Council in a special meeting, they said.
New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) vice chairman Satish Upadhyay said, "The special meeting of the civic body will begin at 11 am and will approve the proposal to change the name of the Rajpath to Kartavya Path." He said a notification in this regard will also be issued after the proposal is passed by the NDMC. Following approval, the entire stretch and area from the Netaji statue at India Gate to the Rashtrapati Bhavan will be known as Kartavya Path, he said.
During British rule, the Rajpath was known as Kingsway. The road on which the Prime Minister's residence is located at present was renamed from Race Course Road to Lok Kalyan Marg in 2015. In the same year, Aurangzeb Road was renamed as APJ Abdul Kalam Marg.

A fire broke out Wednesday afternoon at a shop in a four-storeyed building in Sector 18 of Noida, officials said, as reported by PTI. Ten people were trapped inside the second-floor shop and rescued by fire-fighters who used a hydraulic crane to pull them out through a window as the building got filled with smoke.
