Centre To Begin FY24 Budget-Making Exercise

The government on Monday will kick off its annual Budget making exercise for the financial year 2023-24, which is expected to look at measures to revive growth amid a gloomy global outlook.

The meeting would start with consultations with various ministries and departments on the revised estimates (RE) of expenditure for the ongoing financial year and the fund requirement for 2023-24.

On the first day on Monday, RE meetings with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, the Ministry of Labour And Employment, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports would take place.

Most of these discussions to finalise RE for the ongoing financial year (2022-23) and Budget Estimate for 2023-24 would be chaired by the Finance Secretary and Expenditure Secretary.

Uttar Pradesh: Heavy Rain Alert Issued In Lucknow, Schools To Remain Shut In Many Regions

In wake of the heavy rainfall alert in Lucknow and nearby regions, several districts have declared a school holiday for the second consecutive day tomorrow. All government and private schools in Lucknow, Noida, Gaziabad, Kanpur, and Agra will be closed until class 12, ABP News reported.

“Cities including Lucknow, Noida, Gaziabad, Kanpur & Agra shut schools for all children up to class XII owing to a warning of heavy rainfall issued by the weather department for Oct 10. The state has already been witnessing incessant rainfalls in the past few day,” news agency ANI reported.

Due to the heavy downpour over the last 24 hours, the UP Government ordered the closure of all schools in Aligarh until Class 12. Schools will be closed until October 12. In a statement, District Magistrate Indra Veer Singh announced the decision, which applies to all AMU-affiliated schools.
