PM Modi To Flag Off Bhopal-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the Bhopal-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express train at Rani Kamalapati station on April 1, and also take part in the Combined Commanders' Conference that day, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.

The Vande Bharat Express train between Bhopal and the national capital will cover 708 km distance in 7.45 hours, he said.

"PM Modi will be visiting Madhya Pradesh. During his visit to Bhopal on April 1, he will give a big gift to the people of the state in the form of Vande Bharat Express, which he will flag off from the Rani Kamalapati station for New Delhi," the CM said.

The prime minister will also take part in the Combined Commanders' Conference of the three forces on the same day. Heads of three armed forces, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will also participate in the event. The conference will be held from March 30 to April 1, Chouhan said.

Covid Surge: Wearing Masks Mandatory At Tamil Nadu Hospitals From Today

Amid a surge in Covid-19 cases, the Tamil Nadu government has made wearing of face masks mandatory at all government hospitals across the state from today. Doctors, nurses, medical staff, patients and visitors have been asked to ensure 100 per cent compliance at around 11,300 health facilities as infection initially started in hospitals, Health Minister Ma Subramanian said on Friday. "So, as a precaution, we have made wearing face masks compulsory from April 1," he said.

Speaking to media, the Health Minister said though the infection spread has not escalated, it has become essential to exercise precaution. "We should ensure that we wear face masks to protect ourselves. At present, Omicron sub-variants XBB and BA.2 are in circulation not only in Tamil Nadu, but also in India and other parts of the world," he said.

During the last 24 hours, the southern state has clocked 123 new cases.
