Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia D'Souza Owned Agro Firm Got Preferential Treatment Under MVA Govt, BJP Alleges
It was alleged that 16 companies were awaiting land allotment in Latur for last 2 years, but Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza’s company got the land just days after it was established in 2021.
New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday alleged Bollywood actors and couple Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza of receiving land illegally in Maharashtra's Latur in the year 2021, reported news agency ANI. The saffron party alleged Congress leader and Ritesish’s brother Amit Deshmukh, a minister in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government at that time to have allotted the land to when he was heading the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation.
It was alleged that over 16 companies were awaiting land allotment in Latur for last two years, but Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza’s company got the land just days after their firm Desh Agro was established in 2021.
“Despite 16 other companies waiting for the land allotment in Latur for last 2 years, Desh Agro firm of actor Riteish Deshmukh and his wife Genelia D'Souza Deshmukh was allotted the land a few days after the company was founded in 2021,” Latur BJP vice president Pradeep More said, quoted by the news agency.

More further alleged that the land was allotted at a price higher than the company had and asked where the extra money came from.
“The land alloted to the company was worth Rs 15.29 crores but the company had Rs 7.5 crores, where did the rest of the money come from?” he said.
“As Riteish Deshmukh's brother Amit Deshmukh was a minister in the then MVA govt, MIDC was pressurised to allot land to their company,” he added.
More said “we demand that a probe must be conducted in this matter.”
