Aston Martin To Launch One New Car Every year

After bringing the DB11 grand tourer coupe to the country, British carmaker Aston Martin is reportedly now intent on launching at least one new product every year globally, including India, till the year 2020. This line-up is set to include an SUV, the new Vantage, the Vanquish S and the V8 DB11.

With this, the London-based carmaker is vying to fight for its place among luxury car manufacturers in India. Since its entry on Indian shores back in 2011, it has endured a roller-coaster of a journey. After initially selling around 30 units, the carmaker has witnessed a slowdown due to added import duties.

“Change in the tax structure made vehicles expensive, which slowed down the market and the currency fluctuations vis-a-vis the UK pound posted challenges,” Aston Martin president (Middle East and North Africa) Neil Slade, told Business Standard. The company is also aiming at selling 10-12 cars this year onward, with the DB11 already garnering good response.

Talking about the DB11, it had attracted about 2,000 bookings internationally on the launch day as against the usual 500-700 statistic. The car is accompanied by the Vantage , the Vanquish and the Rapide in Aston Martin's Indian portfolio. The marquee Brit carmaker has sold around 70 units in India so far and with its aggressive strategy going forward, it will certainly be one luxury brand to watch out for.
