Sexual Harassment Case: Chennai Court Sends Siva Sankar Baba To 14-day Judicial Custody

The Child Welfare Committee has written to School Education Department demanding shutting down the International residential school run by Siva Sankar Baba.

Chennai: The self-proclaimed godman and founder of Sushil Hari International School, Siva Sankar Baba recently in arrested Delhi on June 16 following the sexual harassment complaints filed by students of his own school.

According to the Indian Express reports, the Mamallapuram All Women Police Station (AWPS) had registered three cases against Baba under various Sections of the Indian Penal Code, Pocso Act, and Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Women Harassment Act. The Tamil Nadu Commission for protection of Child Rights on which police took prompt action and conducted an initial hearing at the school in Chennai.

Baba had dodged the inquiry complaining heart attack following which he was reportedly admitted to a hospital in Dehradun, Uttrakhand for heart surgery. The case was then transferred to CBCID on June 13. The CBCID arrested him when was in Delhi after he was discharged from the hospital.

Baba Siva Sankar has booked under several sections of the Prevention of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including sexual assault.
