Andhra Pradesh: TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu Demands CBI Probe Into Attack On Him

Naidu presented the visuals of the Chittoor incidents at the media conference and how the police allegedly failed to prevent these attacks.

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday demanded an investigation by the CBI into the attack on him in Chittoor district. He alleged that the assault on him on August 4 was a premeditated conspiracy. Speaking to reporters in Vizianagaarm on Wednesday, the former CM said that he was the victim of the incident. "I was attacked by some goons, but the case has been filed against me," he said.

Naidu presented the visuals of the Chittoor incidents at the media conference and how the police allegedly failed to prevent these attacks. The TDP chief alleged that Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy was trying to gain electoral benefits by filing false cases against TDP cadre. He challenged the state government to respond to the questions raised by opposition party leaders.

"I have been traveling across the state as part of the Yudha Bheri program to inform the people about corruption, injustice, destruction, and devastation caused to irrigation projects. During this program, I was in Angallu village, where I was attacked, and an attempted murder case was registered against me," Chandrababu said.

He alleged that the local minister and his brother conspired and filed a case against him.
Narrating as to how the incident took place, Chandrababu Naidu said that the contract works for a parallel canal to Handri-Neeva were awarded to the PLR Company, which belongs to Minister Ramachandra Reddy.

"When I went to oversee the ongoing works, local farmers complained to me that officials, with the help of the police, had forcibly taken their lands without officially acquiring the lands and without paying for their relief and rehabilitation.

"While I was returning, YSRCP (YSR Congress Party) supporters obstructed me and attempted to kill me. My Chief Security Officer (CSO) had informed the district Superintendent of Police (SP)," he said.

Pointing out that he has National Security Guard (NSG) security, Chandrababu asked whether he should run away from the scene when goons are attacking him.

"What will be the fate of the state if I, as a former chief minister and Leader of the Opposition, run away from there?" he asked.
He said that it has become a habit for the YSRCP to attack someone and then file cases against the victim. He mentioned similar incidents of stone-pelting in Yerragondapalem and Nandigama.

Chandrababu Naidu insisted that the facts would come to light only with a CBI inquiry and called for a probe into all incidents across the state.

"The facts about those involved in the attacks, the masterminds behind these incidents, and the directions given to the attackers will be revealed only through a CBI investigation," he said.
