Airport Staff Not Considered As Frontline Workers For Covid-19 Vaccine, Here's Why?

India has crossed a significant landmark in its collective and resolute fight against the global pandemic. Around two crore frontline workers will be covered in the first phase of Covid-19 inoculation drive

A day after announcing airport staff to be considered as frontline workers for Covid-19 vaccination, the Karnataka governmnet on Sunday withdrew the circular stating that the Central government's classification of the workforce will continue to remain in effect.

In a notification issued earlier, the state government had said that the  staff members of all airports will be considered as the frontline workers and hence, be eligible for the vaccination. The notice was was directed to the authorities at Kempegowda International Airport KIAL, Mangaluru International Airport, and also at Belagavi, Hubbali -Dharwad, Kalaburagi, Mysuru, and Bidar.

It should be noted that healthcare and frontline workers are being administered free Covid-19 vaccine by the government. The government has mentioned in its directives about those who will get the vaccination first.

It has also stated the category of people who should not get vaccinated. Certain contraindications, or conditions, and factors have been kept in mind. People who exhibit these conditions will not be administered the vaccine.

Meanwhile, India has crossed a significant landmark in its collective and resolute fight against the global pandemic. Around two crore frontline workers will be covered in the first phase of Covid-19 inoculation drive, which is likely to continue for the next couple of months.

The priority groups include health workers, municipality workers, the Army and disaster management, volunteers.

The exercise will be conducted for those above the age of 18. Each site, which will function as an election booth does, will have three hard copies of the beneficiary list. These names will also be uploaded by officials to the government’s Co-Win portal — Saturday’s list was uploaded two days in advance.
