2019 BMW 3 Series Spied; Interior Revealed
The 7th-generation BMW 3 Series could make it to our shores by the end of 2019
The 7th-generation BMW 3 Series was recently spotted testing overseas and its spy pictures reveal its completely reworked interior layout. The new-gen 3 Series will get a digital instrument cluster and a bigger touchscreen infotainment display. The dashboard layout of the 3 Series seems to have taken inspiration from the upcoming BMW X7 and the 8 Series concept coupe.
BMW has added more functions to the running centre console of the 3 Series. It will get push start/stop button placed right beside the gear lever, drive modes, parking brake button and a trackpad and more buttons to control the infotainment system. The steering wheel is new, a more chunkier unit this time around. Apart from that, BMW’s adaptive mode, which through electronic gizmos adapts to the owner’s driving style to enhance driving dynamics, will also be debuting in the new 3 Series for the first time.
The new 3 Series is expected to debut at the Paris Motor Show in October 2018. Bearing the codename G20, the upcoming BMW sedan will be taking exterior design cues from its elder sibling, the 5 Series sedan. Also Read: BMW 3 Series Shadow Edition Goes Live On India Site
Based on the CLAR platform, which is also the foundation for the recently launched X3, we expect the new 3 Series to be lighter than the current model. We expect the India-spec model to continue with the existing 2.0-litre diesel and petrol units which are coupled to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. Its M-powered version is expected to be powered by a 3.0-litre biturbo inline-six with hybrid backing. At present, the prices of the 3 Series start from Rs 39.80 lakh and go up to Rs 47.30 lakh, ex-showroom and competes against the likes of Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4 and the Jaguar XF.
