In addition to that, it also stresses on the importance of physical activity, maintaining proper posture, practicing safe lifting techniques, and ensuring healthy working conditions. It aims to motivate individuals to take care of their spinal health and remain physically active.

World Spine Day 2023: History

World Spine Day was initiated in 2008 by the World Federation of Chiropractic. Over the years, the WFC has collaborated with various concerned organizations globally to increase awareness regarding issues like back pain and other spinal ailments.

Approximately 1 billion individuals worldwide experience back pain, spinal discomfort, and related impairments, spanning various age groups, genders, and ethnicities. Given these striking statistics, it's clear why World Spine Day remains an essential initiative.

The primary objectives of World Spine Day are to enhance awareness surrounding spinal health and spinal disorders among people and create a platform for continual dialogue regarding the challenges posed by spinal disorders. This mission holds particular significance because millions of individuals frequently lack awareness of or access to conventional healthcare services for addressing spinal pain and disability.

World Spine Day 2023: Theme

The theme for world spine day 2023 is 'Move Your Spine' which speads a message across people to take care of their spine by staying active. Accoding to World Spine Day website, "Low back pain remains the leading cause of years lived with disability on the planet. Spinal pain and disability are more prevalent than cancer, stroke, heart disease, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s Disease combined."

The campaign 'Move Your Spine' intends to shine a spotlight on the varied aspects of spinal pain and disability, encompassing situations at home, workplaces, schools, and within communities. This initiative will also tackle the importance of mobility throughout one's life journey. It will underscore the means by which individuals, regardless of their backgrounds, can support their spinal health by staying physically active, steering clear of prolonged inactivity, refraining from overburdening their spines, and embracing healthy practices like weight management and quitting smoking.
