Ajwain Fish Tikka is a flavorful and aromatic dish made with fish fillets marinated in a blend of yogurt, spices, and ajwain (carom seeds). Ajwain not only enhances the taste with its earthy fragrance but also adds digestive benefits. The marinated fish is then grilled, baked, or cooked in a tandoor until tender and slightly charred. Served with a refreshing mint yogurt dip, this dish makes for a perfect appetizer. Ingredients

  • 220 Gram Fish (boneless, cut into pieces)
  • 1 Piece Egg (beaten)
  • 5 Gram Garlic paste
  • 5 Gram Ginger paste
  • 5 Gram Green chilli paste
  • 5 Milliliter Lemon juice
  • 10 Milliliter Mustard oil
  • 10 Milliliter Plain curd
  • 10 Milliliter Fresh cream
  • 2 Gram White salt
  • 2 Gram Black salt
  • 2 Gram Carom seeds (Ajwain)
  • 2 Gram Black pepper powder
  • 2 Gram Red chilli powder
  • 2 Gram Garam masala
  • 2 Gram Chat masala
  • 2 Gram Dry fenugreek leaves (Kasuri methi)
  • 50 Gram Cashew nuts (ground into a paste)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Marinate The Fish: In a bowl, mix garlic paste, ginger paste, green chilli paste, lemon juice, plain curd, fresh cream, black salt, white salt, red chilli powder, black pepper powder, garam masala, chat masala, and dry fenugreek leaves.

Step 2

Add the cashew paste and mix well to form a thick marinade.

Step 3

Add fish pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Let it rest for at least 30 minutes.

Step 4

Prepare The Coating: Beat the egg and add a pinch of salt.

Step 5

Coat the marinated fish pieces in the beaten egg mixture.

Step 6

Cooking The Fish: Heat mustard oil in a pan.

Step 7

Add carom seeds (ajwain) and let them splutter.

Step 8

Place the fish pieces in the pan and shallow-fry on medium heat until golden brown and crispy on both sides.

Step 9

Final Touch And Serving: Once cooked, remove from the pan and place on absorbent paper.

Step 10

Sprinkle a little chat masala on top for extra flavor.

Step 11

Serve hot with lemon wedges and mint chutney.
