New Delhi: Act of bravery by this visually impaired youth has startled everyone. Shakir, who is a visually challenged boy, overpowered one member of a gang of mobile phone snatchers, after he was encountered by them on his way to ATM in North Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar. According to a senior police officer, the incident took place on Friday when Shakir was heading towards an ATM counter in Mukherjee Nagar area, with help of his high-end mobile phone when a gang of three men on a motorcycle targeted him. Acting spontaneously, Shakir grabbed one of the riders and pulled him down as his accomplices fled. Realising that Shakir was visually impaired, the accused attacked him, but he endured it all until locals rushed to his rescue and called up police, the official said. The accused, identified as Vijay (22), has been arrested while his accomplices Dhiraj and Pappu are still on a run.
