Crafted from pink wool with intricate black embroidery, the overcoat was meticulously designed by Deborah Lynn Scott and brought to life by the J Peterman Company based on Scott’s original concept. Scott's outstanding work on this garment earned her the prestigious Academy Award for Best Costume Design.

"This full-length wool overcoat, worn by Rose as she navigates the chaos of the sinking ship while trying to save Jack, bears visible water stains on the inside and across the silk interior. The detailed black embroidery complements floral motifs, capturing the bespoke style of the era," stated the auction house on its official website.
Anticipation is building around the expected bidding war for this coveted piece, with estimates placing the final sale price at over $100,000 (approximately ₹83 lakhs), as per the website. As of Friday night, the current bid has already reached $34,000 (approximately ₹28 lakhs).
Ken Goldin, founder, and CEO of the auction house, described the overcoat as a "six-figure piece," noting its appeal to collectors of movie memorabilia, enthusiasts of pop culture, and dedicated fans of the iconic film. The combination of the overcoat's symbolic status and its connection to the cinematic masterpiece 'Titanic' makes it an extraordinary collectible.

The overcoat comes complete with a letter of authenticity from the clothier and 20th Century Fox, attesting to its use in the movie. Goldin shared with the New York Post that the overcoat's previous owner acquired it in the early 2000s and recently reached out to the auction house.
To ensure its authenticity, Goldin engaged Resolution Photomatching, a company specialising in matching worn items with images from the film, which confirmed that the overcoat was indeed the same one worn by Kate Winslet, the website said.
This exquisite garment is part of the Goldin 100 collection — a prestigious auction series featuring collectibles valued at $100,000 and above. As the auction date approaches, collectors and enthusiasts alike eagerly await the opportunity to own a piece of cinematic history that transcends time.
