Dr. Agni Kumar Bose, who is a Dermatologist, Venereologist and Dermatosurgeon said, "Kakadu plum is a type of plum found in Australia, and is not native to India. This has been used in their traditional medicine for ages."

Talking about the benefits, Dr. Agni Kumar Bose mentioned the following:

• One of the richest sources of Vitamin C, 100gm of plum has 3000% of the total daily vitamin C requirement! For perspective, 100gm of orange has 60% of the total daily vitamin C requirement.
• Kakadu plum also is a decent source of fibre - 7g for good gut health, and lower blood sugar and cholesterol. 
• It contains roughly 13% of the daily iron requirement and 100% of the daily copper requirement. Since it's always recommended to take iron with vitamin C for its better absorption, this natural combo ensures that we get our micronutrients, trace minerals and elements which often times get neglected in our diets. 
• Very rich source of antioxidants - these help fight inflammation in the body. Help combat stress, pollution and toxins.

Coming to side effects, Dr. Agni Kumar Bose said, "Kakadu Plum is very high in oxalates and vitamin C. Hence, this fruit has to be taken in very small amounts. If sufficient water isn't drunk, it can precipitate kidney stones. Hence, lots of water needs to be drank to flush out all the oxalates and vitamin C."
