New Delhi: According to religious beliefs, Lord Krishna was born in Rohini nakshatra and in Taurus at 12 midnight on the eighth day of the Krishna paksha in the month of Bhadrapada in the Dwapar Yug.

Puja rituals for Janmashtami fast
Sri Krishna devotees should wake up early in the morning and have a bath. After that, the worship place (temple) in the house should be cleaned. Now at the worship place, you need to make a resolve. You should fast for the whole day and at night you should place an idol of the child form of Lord Krishna at worship place and offer puja with complete rituals.
Light the lamp in front of God. Place the idol of Shri Krishna in the swing and offer sugar and dryfruits. Finally perform the aarti of Lord krishna.
Rules of fast
On this auspicious day, one should worship Lord Krishna as well as worship the cow. Place a small idol of cow along with the idol of Lord Krishna at the place of worship. The place of worship should be clean and calm. Use only cow's milk, curd, butter and ghee for the puja. You must anoint Lord Krishna with Ganga water.
