Ganesh Chaturthi 2022: Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated across the country with full fervour this year after celebrations were marred for the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The 10-day-long festival dedicated to Lord Ganesha is around the corner. Ganesh Chaturthi is not held on the same day every year. This year, the grand festivities will be held on August 31.
The festival falls on the Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month according to the Hindu calendar. On this day, people celebrate the birthday of Lord Ganesha, who is also known as Lambodar, Vinayaka, Suk Karta (giver of happiness) and Dukh Harta (remover of sorrow). Lord Ganesha is said to be invoked before all the other gods to ensure success in all our new endeavours.

Tithi begins at 3:33 PM, on August 30.
Tithi ends at 3:22 PM, on August 31.
During Ganesh Chaturthi, there is a Madhyana Puja Shubh Muhurat, which comes between 11:05 AM and 1:38 PM.
Going by Hindu religious beliefs, moon sightings are not allowed on Ganesh Chaturthi. It is said that moon sighting in Ganesh Chaturthi creates Mithya Dosham or Mithya Kalank. The literal meaning of it is a false accusation of stealing something. The time to avoid Moon sighting: 03:33 pm to 08:40 pm on August 30.
Ganesh Visarjan Puja Vidhi
Anant Chaturdashi is the last day for Ganesh Chaturthi, which comes after 10 days, also known as the day of Visarjan. Lord Ganesha is welcomed on Ganesh Chaturthi with the same joy and excitement as he is bid adieu on Immersion Day. Followers bid adieu to Lord Ganesha with dance and music. The Visarjan day is September 9 this year.
On this auspicious day, Lord Ganesh's idol is bid adieu by immersing in water. This is done after carrying the idol through the streets of the neighbourhood.
Before immersing Lord Ganesha's idol, you should keep in mind that Lord Ganesha's idol should be dressed in new clothes. During the worship, you should tie modak, money, durva grass and betel nut in a silk cloth and keep that bundle along with Lord Ganesha's idol. After this, you should worship Lord Ganesha while also asking for forgiveness for any mistakes done. You should then immerse the idol with all respect and love.
