People With Disabilities Share Stories Of Resilience At Adani Group's Green X Talks

The Adani Group's Green X Talks celebrated the International Day for Persons with Disabilities, featuring inspiring stories of resilience and achievement by individuals who have overcome barriers to redefine possibilities.

The Adani Group marked the International Day for Persons with Disabilities (celebrated on December 3) with the Green X Talks, a platform where individuals with disabilities shared their remarkable life stories. The event, hosted at the Adani Corporate House in Gujarat's Ahmedabad on Monday, showcased inspiring personalities who have overcome barriers, redefining possibilities and turning the impossible into reality.

Jeet Adani, Director, Airport Business, Adani Group, stated, "Green X symbolises the vast potential with differently-abled individuals. The colour green represents a world filled with life, symbolising growth, hope and endless possibilities. X signifies mystery, evolving into a potent symbol of extraordinary talent waiting for acknowledgment and cultivation. It represents the resilience of the human spirit, the determination to overcome challenges, and the strength to carve paths through adversity."

He added, "At its core, Green X advocates for empowerment and inclusivity, considering each person, regardless of their physical or mental ability, as an integral part of our organisation."

Ajay Kumar Reddy, captain of the Indian men’s blind cricket team since 2016, was one of the speakers. He led the team to victory in the 2017 Blind T20 World Cup and the 2018 Blind Cricket World Cup. Reddy's outstanding performance played a crucial role in India securing the 2014 Blind Cricket World Cup title against Pakistan.

Nipun Malhotra, a disability rights activist and social entrepreneur, also spoke at the event. Overcoming accessibility challenges, he pursued his education and is now the CEO of Nipman Foundation, a disability rights advocacy organisation. Malhotra is a notable figure in disability rights, holding various positions and contributing significantly to the cause.

The event featured a panel discussion on accessibility and inclusivity in the workplace. Panelists included Tarun Kumar Vashisth, the first Ph.D. candidate with visual impairment at IIM-A; Alina Alam, founder of Mitti Café; Dr. Anita Sharma, a DEI consultant and India's first woman skydiver with a disability; and Dr. Bhushan Punani, General Secretary, Blind Association, and an IIM-A alumnus.

Rashmi Patil, a national-level dancer with a hearing impairment, delivered the inaugural performance. Patil started learning Bharatnatyam at the age of 6 and has since become a national-level dancer.
