Moved House? UIDAI Has Dropped This Document As Address Proof For Aadhaar Card | Check Details
UIDAI has said in a tweet that the Address Validation Letter facility has been discontinued 'until further notice'. Check the list of valid documents
New Delhi: If you want to change the address on your Aadhaar card, here is an important update for you. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has updated its rules for address change in Aadhaar records.
Earlier, in the absence of document proof, UIDAI allowed an Aadhaar cardholder to update the current address "with the consent and authentication of the address verifier", who could be a family member, a relative, a friend or the landlord. The address verifier could give an Address Validation Letter saying they have no objection to the applicant use their address as proof.
In a recent tweet, however, UIDAI mentioned that the Address Validation Letter facility has been discontinued "until further notice". It said one must use any other valid document from its list to get the address updated for Aadhaar card.
