In Karnataka, Amit Shah Asks Voters To Make A Choice: PM Modi-Led BJP Or Rahul's 'Tukde-Tukde' Gang
Amit Shah on Thursday promised to make Karnataka number one in south India within five years even as he took a swipe at Congress over infighting within its ranks.
New Delhi: Sounding the poll bugle in Karnataka, which goes to election later this year, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday promised to make the state number one in south India within five years while asking voters to make a choice between PM Modi-led BJP or Rahul Gandhi's "tukde-tukde" gang Congress, PTI reported.
Cautioning people against the 'divisive' Congress, Shah said, "On one hand there is PM Modi-led BJP strengthening India, and on the other there is Rahul Gandhi-led Congress linked with 'Tukde-Tukde' gang. You have to make a choice between the two."
Addressing a public meeting at Sandur, a Congress stronghold in Bellary district, the Union minister also took a dig at the infighting in Congress.
"There is only one post of Chief Minister, for which both Congress state president D K Shivakumar and former chief minister Siddaramaiah are fighting. There are other aspirants too in the race (in Congress). They will not do good for the people of Karnataka," PTI quoted Shah as saying.
Speaking at the 'Vijay Sankalp Samavesh', the Union Minister said that Congress and JDS will never be able to benefit common people and work for the upliftment of those in poverty.
"Give a chance to Yediyurappa and we will give you a corruption-free government. Congress and JDS are dynastic parties and such parties can never work for the welfare of the people. Every vote polled for JDS will benefit the Congress party, and every vote polled for Congress will benefit Siddaramaiah and his ATM government in Delhi," Amit Shah said.
Talking about Jammu and Kashmir, Amit Shah said the Congress, JD(S), and other Opposition parties said that Article 370 of the Constitution, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir, should not be abrogated.
“However, PM Modi abrogated Article 370 and made the state part of India forever,” he said.
The Minister said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi used to say that there will be bloodbath if the Article 370 is abolished. "Let alone bloodbath, there was no one who threw even a pebble there. This is the BJP government," Shah said.
