Monsoon Wellness — Ayurvedic Tips To Boost Immunity And Stay Healthy During This Season

Know simple and effective Ayurvedic practices to stay healthy, energised, and immune-strong during the monsoon season. Embrace natural wellness this rainy season.

When the monsoon clouds advance and the smell of wet earth fills the atmosphere, a quiet change is witnessed in nature. Though the rainy season provides relief from sweltering summer heat, it also brings along humidity, slow digestion, and reduced immunity. As per Ayurved, this is a moment when the inner balance of the body is most susceptible. And yet, it's the ideal time to adopt conscious rituals that help nourish, cleanse, and rejuvenate from the inside out.

During the monsoon, one's body gets easily irritated and causes symptoms such as indigestion, skin infections, joint pain, and fatigue. The humidity in the air suppresses digestive fire (Agni), knocks down immunity and makes the body vulnerable to imbalance.

Monsoon demands warm, freshly prepared food that is light to digest. Consider khichdi spiced with cumin, ginger, and turmeric. Spices such as ajwain, pepper, and asafoetida become superfoods that help in easing digestion and repelling waterborne pathogens. Avoid raw salads and dairy as much as possible, and go in for steamed veggies, herbal teas, and broths that keep your body healthy.

Stay Hydrated And Consume Herbal Teas:

A warm ginger-tulsi tea in a cup can do wonders on a rainy day. According to Ayurved, herbal teas prepared from cinnamon, fennel, and cardamom should be sipped to soothe the gut and clear the lungs. Mixing honey and turmeric in lukewarm water works as a natural immunity booster.

Hydration is the key, but avoid cold water and fizzy drinks. Instead, drink boiled and lukewarm water throughout the day to help better digestion and cleanse toxins from the body.

Practice Abhyang: Self-Massage

The ancient ritual of Abhyang, self-massage with warm medicated oils, is especially powerful in the monsoon. Massaging the body with neem or sesame oil not only soothes Vata but also hydrates the skin and lubricates joints. Even just 15 minutes a day first thing in the morning can boost circulation, induce good sleep, and render a feeling of earthy calm.

Take Proper Sleep:

Today's contemporary lifestyle tends to conflict with the signs of nature. But in the monsoon, aligning your schedule with the light and power of the day is particularly necessary. Wake up early, don't nap in the daytime, and go to bed before 10 PM. Sleep is usually underestimated, but it is the body's most holy time for renewal and healing.

Include Herbs:

Herbs such as ashwagandha or guduchi may enhance immunity and resilience. Consult an expert to determine what is suitable for your body type. These preparations assist in developing the energy responsible for strength, vitality, and immunity.
