COVID Vaccination For 15-18 Age Group Begins On Monday. Know About Eligibility, Registration & More

The registrations for vaccinating children falling in the age 15-18 bracket began on January 1.

New Delhi: The COVID vaccination drive for teenagers in the 15-18 age group in India is set to begin on Monday with over seven lakh beneficiaries already registered on the CoWIN portal.

The data on the CoWIN dashboard reflected the registration of 7,21,521 beneficiaries by 9:20 pm on Sunday, news agency ANI reported.

As informed by the Centre, Covaxin is to be administered in this category of new beneficiaries and additional doses would be sent to states and union territories for the drive.

Eligibility:

As per the Union Health Ministry’s guidelines, all those aged 15 years or more will be able to register on Co-WIN. In other words, all those whose birth year is 2007 or before, shall be eligible.

How To Book Appointment For COVID Vaccination:

  • The Union Health Ministry beneficiaries can self-register online through an existing account on Co-WIN or can also register by creating a new account through a unique mobile number.

  • Such beneficiaries can also be registered onsite by the verifier/vaccinator in facilitated registration mode.

  • Appointments can be booked online or onsite (walk-in).

  • CoWIN platform chief Dr. RS Sharma had informed that the student ID card option has been added for registration. It is an additional Class 10 ID card that can be used to register on the portal because some might not have Aadhaar or other such identity cards, ANI reported.

Important Points To Know For Online Registration:

  • All communications and reminders are sent to your Registered Mobile Number. So the mobile number used for registration should be active.

  • Do not register with multiple mobile numbers or different Photo ID Proofs for the same individual.

  • Up to 4 people can be registered with the same mobile number.

  • The system will display vaccination slots only for the vaccines for which you are eligible. The slots availability is displayed in the search (on district, Pincode, or map) based on the schedule populated by the District Immunisation Officers (for Government Vaccination Centers) and private hospitals for their vaccination centers.

  • Scheduling of the second dose should be done from the same account (same mobile number) from which the first dose has been taken, for generation of final certificate. “Separate registration for second dose is not necessary and would lead to two first dose certificates,” the CoWIN portal states.

  • Please carry the registered mobile phone and the requisite documents, including the appointment slip, the Photo ID card or the Student ID card used for registration while visiting the vaccination center, for verification at the time of vaccination.

The registrations for vaccinating children falling in the age bracket began on January 1. On December 25 last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced that India is preparing to begin the COVID-19 vaccination of children aged 15 to 18 years.
