Covid Update: India Logs 16,678 Fresh Infections, Positivity Rate In Bengal Surges To 17%

West Bengal reported 2,962 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday at a positivity rate of 17.36 per cent, as per the Health Department.

New Delhi: India has recorded a slight dip in fresh Coronavirus infections than yesterday as the country recorded 16,678 new cases in the last 24 hours. With the addition of fresh cases on Sunday, the daily positivity rate is now near 6 per cent. The country's active cases amount to 0.30 per cent of the total cases.

14,629 patients recovered from the deadly virus in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,29,83,162. The country's recovery rate is now at 98.50%.

India's active caseload now stands at 1,30,713. 

West Bengal Reports 2,962 new COVID-19 cases, 17% positivity

West Bengal reported 2,962 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday at a positivity rate of 17.36 per cent, as per the Health Department.

Four more patients died, taking the toll to 21,243, it said.

There are 23,264 active cases in the state at present, and all of these patients have symptoms. Of them, 508 patients are undergoing treatment at hospitals.

The new cases were detected after testing 17,061 samples, recording a positivity rate of 17.36 per cent. 

Maharashtra logs 2,591 fresh infections

Maharashtra on Sunday reported 2,591 new coronavirus-positive cases, but did not record any death linked to the infection, the state health department said.

With the addition of cases, the overall tally rose to 80,04,024, while the death toll stood at 1,47,976.

A total of 2,894 patients recuperated during the day, raising the recovery count to 78,37,679.

There are 18,369 active coronavirus cases at present in the state, where the recovery rate is 97.92 per cent and the fatality rate is 1.84 per cent, according to a PTI report. 

Mumbai reported 399 fresh cases. With this, its overall tally rose to 11,17,873, while the death toll is 19,624.

So far, 20,07,204 patients have recovered, including 853 since Saturday.
