Corona Vaccination: Registration On CoWin Portal Starts Today - Steps To Follow

Covid-19 Vaccination: The second phase of COVID-19 vaccination drive for age-appropriate population groups has commenced at 9:00 am today.

The Government of India is set to begin phase two of its ongoing COVID-19 vaccination drive on Monday. As stated by the government of India, the next phase of the vaccination drive for age-appropriate population groups commenced today at 9:00 am.  

As per the latest orders, people above 45 years of age with 20 comorbid conditions, including heart failure with hospital admission in the past one year will be eligible to appear for Covid-19 vaccination under India's Covid-19 vaccination program which is set to enter its second phase on March 1. 

Ahead of the drive, the government has shared a user manual for registration and appointment for COVID-19 vaccination. Citizens will be able to register and book an appointment for vaccination, anytime and anywhere, using the COWIN 2.0 portal or through other IT applications.

What is CoWIN?

Co-WIN is a platform designed for citizens of India to register for coronavirus vaccination and schedule their vaccination slots at the nearest vaccination centres. It is an upgraded version of the eVIN (Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network), a digitalised platform to be used to effectively roll out and scale up the mechanism for COVID Vaccine Distribution System, nationally. The Co-WIN portal has been developed by the Ministry of Health, Government of India with the support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), India Office. 

As explained by the government, the specially designed CoWIN app comes with five modules, namely - Administrator module, Registration module, Vaccination module, Beneficiary Acknowledgement module, and Report module.

How To Register For Vaccine On CoWin

  • Step 1: Citizens can now register by visiting - www.cowin.gov.in
  • Step 2: Enter a valid mobile number. Click on the "Get OTP" button
  • Step 3: OTP will be sent to the phone number via SMS
  • Step 4: Enter the OPT and click the "Verify" button. 
  • Step 5: Once the OPT is validated, you will be directed to the "registration of Vaccination" page
  • Step 6: Enter details required
  • Step 7: Once the details are entered, click the "Register" button at the bottom right. You will receive a confirmation message. 

Citizens can schedule an Appointment fro the Account details page by clicking on the calendar button or click "Schedule Appointment". The system will navigate to "Book Appointment for Vaccination page". By selecting a suitable vaccination centre and slot, you can book an appointment.

Documents Required

  • Those looking to get vaccinated will have to carry any one of the following photo ID document:
  • Aadhar Card.
  • Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC).
  • Photo ID card specified at the time of registration in case of online registration (if not Aadhar or EPIC).

Along With:

  • Certificate of co-morbidity for citizens in the age group of 45 to 59 years (signed by a registered medical practitioner).
  • Employment certificate/Official Identity Card (either but with photo and date of birth) for Health Care Workers and Front Line Workers.
