Rest is crucial when your body is fighting an infection like COVID-19. If you’re having trouble sleeping due to congestion or discomfort, try elevating your head with extra pillows.

Illness tends to result in dehydration, particularly with fever, diarrhea, or vomiting. Staying well hydrated with lots of water is essential. If water isn't well-tolerated, warm green tea or electrolyte solutions may be a better options.

3. Consume Healthy Foods:

While appetite can be lost during sickness, nourishment is vital for convalescence. Eat easy-to-digest foods such as bananas, oatmeal, yogurt, salmon, and greens. If solid foods seem hard to eat, warm broth can be comforting and healing.

4. Stay On Prescription Medications:

Don't discontinue prescribed medication unless advised by your physician. Treating chronic diseases such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease is even more important when recovering from COVID-19.

5. Practice Breathing Exercises:

Techniques such as pursed-lip breathing and diaphragmatic (belly) breathing can enhance lung function. These exercises may be performed several times a day but should be interrupted when it cause shortness of breath.

6. Monitor Your Symptoms Closely:

Monitor your temperature and overall health. Increasing fever or worsening symptoms can indicate the need for seeking medical help. Use a pulse oximeter to check the level of blood oxygen, if you have underlying lung or heart disease.

Although zinc, vitamin C, and vitamin D are widely suggested, their usefulness against COVID-19 remains under investigation. They can be useful in aiding your immune system but should be consumed within recommended levels and only after consulting your physician.
