Comorbidities Certificate Required For Covid-19 ‘Precautionary Dose’: National Health Authority CEO
The comorbidity medical certificate should be signed by any registered medical practitioner and can be uploaded or the beneficiaries can bring it along as a hard copy to the vaccination centre.
New Delhi: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Health Authority (NHA) Dr R S Sharma on Sunday said that elderly people above the age of 60 years with comorbidities who were eligible for a ‘precautionary dose’ will have to show a medical certificate to take the dose.
"The elderly population that comes above 60 years of age with comorbidities is eligible for COVID-19 'precautionary doses', will have to take a medical certificate to take the dose. The other process of vaccination will remain the same as before,” he said in an interview with news agency ANI.
Sharma, who also heads the functioning of the CoWin application, said that the portal contains all the information and those who have already got the two doses can go with their comorbidities certificate and get the third dose.

He further informed that the comorbidity medical certificate should be signed be signed by any registered medical practitioner and can be uploaded or the beneficiaries can bring it along as a hard copy to the vaccination centre.
"There is already a detail about comorbidity certificate which was published initially when we were doing comorbidity for 45 to 60+ age group. The same formula will apply now also the same certificate will be required for the same comorbidities condition," he added.
The beneficiaries will receive a booster dose certificate, said the NHA CEO.
The comorbidities criteria includes twenty medical conditions which include diabetes, kidney disease or on dialysis, cardiovascular diseases, stemcell transplant, cancer, cirrhosis, sickle cell disease, current prolonged use of steroids or immunosuppressant drugs, Muscular Dystrophy/ Acid attack with involvement of respiratory system/ Persons with disabilities having high support needs/ Multiple disabilities including deaf-blindness and Severe respiratory disease with hospitalisations in last two years.
