ABP News Snap Poll: Will Lockdown In Parts Of Maharashtra Help Contain Second Covid-19 Wave? Check Survey Here

The ABP-CVoter Covid-19 specific survey was conducted for a span of over a year and below mentioned questions were asked to people of Maharashtra for the snap poll. Let's have a look.

ABP Snap Poll: Despite one of world's largest Covid-19 vaccination drive being carried out in the country, India, over the past one month, is witnessing second wave of Coronavirus with daily cases surging past 50,000. According to a recent report by Union Health Ministry, six states of the country account for as much as 81 per cent of daily new cases and Maharashtra stands to be the first in this race.

On the eve of the first anniversary of the nationwide lockdown following the spread of the pandemic, Maharashtra saw stunning new highs of Covid-19 cases. ABP News along with C-Voter conducted a snap poll to gauge the mood of people in Maharashtra and understand how they see the forthing wave of Covid-19. 

According to the survey findings, presently, fewer numbers of people are scared of getting infected with the deadly virus, which explains the reasons for people becoming careless in following Covid-19 appropriate behaviour leading to a spike in coronavirus positive cases in the country.

Q. Are people happy with handling of Corona situation by Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra government through out the year?

The survey reveals that 44 per cent respondents were satisfied with the way Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government handled the Coronavirus situation in Maharashtra throughout the year. However, 35 per cent had an opposite opinion and said that they were not happy with government's way of working during the pademic. 21 per cent said that they do not want to comment on the issue.

Q. Do you think lockdown helped to control spread of Covid-19 pandemic?

According to the survey findings, 48 per cent people believe that lockdown indeed helped in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic in Maharashtra. Meanwhile, 30 per cent said that lockdown was not successfully implemented and government could have done more to contain the spread of deadly virus. 22 per cent respondents said that they cannot comment on the issue.

Q. Only Maharashtra is facing severe second wave of corona, which is due to bad handling or due to rigorous testing?

The ABP-CVoter snap poll found that 36 per cent people are of the opinion that Mahashtra is facing second wave of Coronavirus due to government's bad handling of the siuation. Meanwhile, 29 per cent respondent believed the second wave to be due to rigorous testing. Remaining 35 per cent chose not to comment. 

Q. Do you agree lockdown in various parts is the only solution to curb second Corona wave?

Keeping in mind the significantly surging Covid cases in Maharashtra, 46 per cent respondents of the survey agreed to the fact that lockdown should be imposed in various parts of the state to curb the second wave. However, 36 per cent felt that imposing lockdown won't really help.

Q. If vaccination is allowed to all above 45, will this bring situation under control?

46 per cent people feel that if Covid-19 vaccination is made available to all above 45 years it will bring situation under control, while 26 per cent felt others. Remaining 28 per cent refused to comment on the issue.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded a fresh peak of 31,855 - up from the previous high of 30,535 registered on March 21 - and the state's overall caseload went up to 25,64,881 till date, three days after crossing the 2.50 million mark.
