GTA 6 Just Defeated Deadpool! Trailer 2 Leaves Marvel Hit In The Dust, Sets New Record

Even the music used in the trailer is basking in the spotlight. The song used in the new trailer saw its Spotify streams skyrocket by 180,000% (you read that right!).

The hype around Grand Theft Auto 6 just hit another level — again. Rockstar Games’ second trailer for the much-anticipated title didn’t just break the internet, it obliterated a record once owned by the Marvel juggernaut.

Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine teaser had set a mind-bending benchmark earlier this year with 365 million views in a single day. But GTA 6’s new trailer smashed through that figure, pulling in a staggering 475 million views across platforms in just 24 hours. The numbers were confirmed by Rockstar to The Hollywood Reporter, making this the most-watched trailer ever in a single day.

No Warning, Just Chaos — and Fans Loved It

In typical Rockstar fashion, the trailer came out of nowhere. Days earlier, the studio had announced a delay, pushing the game’s release to next year. They teased that some news was on the way — but no one anticipated a trailer drop of this magnitude, especially one that also delivered over 70 new screenshots and rich story details.

The first trailer, which debuted last year, was massive in its own right with 93 million views in 24 hours — but it was limited to YouTube on day one. This time, Rockstar let the second trailer loose across YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and more, leading to a global surge in viewership. On YouTube alone, the trailer has crossed 81 million views, while Instagram added another 60 million-plus.

GTA’s Soundtrack Power: Pointer Sisters Track Explodes

Even the music used in the trailer is basking in the spotlight. Spotify reported that Hot Together by The Pointer Sisters — featured prominently in the trailer — saw its streams skyrocket by 180,000% following the trailer’s release.

“Grand Theft Auto cuts through popular culture like almost nothing else,” said Sulinna Ong, Spotify’s global head of editorial. “Music has been synonymous with the series since the very beginning, so it’s great to see fans both new and established connecting with an iconic track in this way.”

Built on PS5, Polished to Shine

Rockstar has confirmed that the trailer includes both in-game footage and cinematic cutscenes, all captured on the PlayStation 5. The visual fidelity and cinematic storytelling suggest that Rockstar is going all-in for what’s shaping up to be one of the biggest entertainment launches in history.

Considering that GTA 5 made $1 billion within its first three days back in 2013 and has sold over 200 million copies since, expectations for GTA 6 are sky-high. With this kind of momentum and cultural buzz, it’s increasingly likely that the new Grand Theft Auto will not only dominate the gaming world but potentially outshine even the biggest blockbusters of next summer — including new entries from Marvel, Star Wars, and Christopher Nolan.

And if this is only the second trailer, the full release might just break the internet for good.
