Will GTA 6 Be Delayed? Here's How Rockstar-Owner Take Two Still Offers Hope For 2025 Release

The stakes for GTA 6 could not be higher, given the monumental success of its predecessor. GTA V has sold a staggering 205 million copies since its 2013 launch.

GTA 6 trailer 2, as was theorised by thousands of fans across the globe, didn't turn up on December 27. Hence, some faint-hearted gamers then wondered if the game would be delayed further. However, fear not, GTA fans. If Take-Two's commitment is anything to go by, Grand Theft Auto VI will actually see a release in Q3/Q4 this year.

When Will GTA 6 Release?

During an address to shareholders in November this year, Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, confirmed that the highly anticipated GTA 6 will hit the shelves in the fall of 2025.

Several other key financial results and upcoming projects were also outlined. Fans who have been eagerly awaiting the next instalment in the iconic franchise can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the release window, spanning September to December 2025, has been officially reaffirmed.

What's On Take-Two's Plate For 2025?

Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, expressed strong confidence in the company’s future, citing its talented teams and robust lineup of intellectual properties as major drivers for growth. “With many exciting new titles coming in Fiscal 2026 – including Grand Theft Auto VI, Borderlands 4, and Mafia: The Old Country – we expect to create long-term value for our shareholders,” Zelnick stated during the meeting.

The stakes for GTA 6 could not be higher, given the monumental success of its predecessor. GTA V has sold a staggering 205 million copies since its launch, while Red Dead Redemption 2 boasts 62 million units sold, making them two of the best-selling video games of all time. With such a legacy to uphold, Take-Two is projecting record-breaking revenues from GTA 6, with expectations that the game will set new benchmarks for the industry.

Take-Two’s roadmap for 2025 and 2026 is packed with blockbuster releases designed to captivate diverse gaming audiences. Key titles include:

  • Civilization 7, set for release on February 11, 2025
  • WWE 2K25, expected before April 2025
  • Grand Theft Auto VI, launching in late 2025
  • Borderlands 4 and Mafia: The Old Country, both slated for Fiscal Year 2026 (April 2025–April 2026)

Beyond these marquee titles, other highly anticipated projects, such as CSR Racing 3 and Judas, are also in development, although their release dates remain unannounced.
