Call Of Duty Playing Order: Now That A New CoD Title Is Incoming, Here's The Definitive Way You Can Play All 20 Games
Call of Duty games, from 2003's first instalment to 2023's 'Modern Warfare III' are available to purchase on Steam.
Call of Duty has just started teasing a new game through unofficial (read: sinisterly enigmatic) channels. Publisher Activision has even put up a website: TheTruthLies.com, which doesn't really reveal a lot. Now, the buzz around the rumour mill suggests that the new game will purportedly be called 'Black Ops 6'. Before you look up Wikipedia, let us assure you that there indeed are five whole Black Ops games out there right now, with the latest 'Black Ops Cold War' having released amid covid lockdowns, in 2020.

In What Order Should You Play The Call of Duty Games?
Now, apart from a handful of games, such as the old (and new) Modern Warfare trilogy, or the first couple of Black Ops games, Call of Duty games don't REALLY warrant playing them all in a linear sequence.
However, if you're a true CoD nut and wish to experience the games in a proper chronological order of events (single-player campaigns only) they were set in (especially the World War and Vietnam war ones), here's a list you can follow:
- Call of Duty (2003)
- Call of Duty 2 (2005)
- Call of Duty: World at War (2008)
- Call of Duty 3 (2006)
- Call of Duty: WWII (2017)
- Call of Duty: Vanguard (2021)
- Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010)
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (2020)
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (2012)
- Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007)
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009)
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2011)
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019)
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022)
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (2023)
- Call of Duty: Ghosts (2013)
- Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (2014)
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 (2015)
- Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (2016)
NOTE: Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 doesn't count as it didn't have a single-player campaign and was a multiplayer-only title.
Lastly, in case you were wondering, all Call of Duty games are available on Steam to purchase and download.
