Assassin’s Creed Mirage Now Official, Reveal Set For September 10: Here's What We Know So Far

Assassin’s Creed Mirage might see the series’ return to stealth-based basics, dropping the RGP-heavy elements seen in the recent games.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be the next official entry into Ubisoft’s most successful franchise. The name “Mirage” had appeared in the rumour mill several times earlier. On September 1, Ubisoft went ahead and confirmed that the leaks were indeed true, and a reveal is expected next week. This will be the 13th main entry in the action RPG series. Assassin’s Creed Mirage will see the return of a series favourite and is tipped to be set in Baghdad in 860-870 AD.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Reveal date, time

Ubisoft is set to hold a showcase of multiple games, called Ubisoft Forward, on September 10. As per the official tweet from the Assassin’s Creed handle, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will indeed be showcased at 12pm PT (12:30am on September 11 for Indian viewers).

Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Protagonist (expected)

Bloomberg reported in February that the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game, earlier codenamed Rift, would star Basim as the protagonist, who is an assassin we first met in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The game was earlier expected to be an expansion for Valhalla, but that is not the case anymore.

The official tweet shows a character that looks incredibly similar to Basim, or rather a younger version of him.

An earlier tweet by Assassin’s Creed fan website The Codex Network showed artwork allegedly leaked from Ubisoft’s store. The character in the photo is marked by red and blue sleeves, as well as a distinctly shaped sword that was wielded by Basim in Valhalla. Based on all these, it appears that Basim could very well be the protagonist of the upcoming Mirage.

The above leak also showed a title plate, “The Forty Thieves Quest” which could be an expansion pack for Mirage or something else altogether.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Location, Setting (expected)

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is expected to be set in Baghdad, as tweeted by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier. He had retweeted a post by tipster Rebs Gaming, which suggested several things about the upcoming Assassin’s Creed, suggesting it will have multiple cities to explore.
Schreier negated most of the leaks, but said that his own source has confirmed to him that Mirage will indeed be set in Baghdad, and will return to Assassin’s Creed’s signature stealth-based basics in terms of gameplay, dropping the RPG-heavy elements as seen in Origins, Odyssey, or Valhalla.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Release date (expected)

As per Schreier, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is expected to release in Spring 2023, that is, between April and June.

Now, historically speaking, major Assassin’s Creed games have always seen a September-November release date. If Ubisoft does decide to release Mirage earlier, that would be a series-first indeed.

Remember, these are all leaks and rumours, so it is advised to consider this article with a pinch of salt.
