TV show with a fresh take on snakes launched

New Delhi: With the aim to break the negative image of snakes that is portrayed on the Indian small screen, a new show titled "Icchapyaari Naagin" was launched here on Friday. The Sony SAB show tells the love story of a 'naagin' (snake) played by Priyal Gor who falls in love with a human named Bubble Pratap, essayed by Mishkat Verma. Love, hatred and vengeance are some of the traits that have been explored on the small screen. But "Icchapyaari Naagin" aims to show a fresh take and perspective on the lives of snakes. The show will go on air on September 27. Anooj Kapoor, Senior Executive Vice President and business head, Sony SAB, says the show tells a unique story of a sweet 'naagin' who is on a mission to change the image of snakes on Earth, but with a comic twist. "Overall, the show is fun and very interesting. We want to shun all the fears that people have in mind about snakes. They might not be your best friends, but they are not enemies as well," Kapoor said. Priyal is excited about the show, and is sure that it will instantly click with the audience. "I am sure it will do well because it is a very different concept... No one has done this kind of portrayal till now," Priyal told IANS. The actress also shares that there was no particular point of reference for the role. "I have seen Sridevi's film 'Nagina'...but the character is very different. But after doing the role, I have learnt that an actor should have no inhibitions while playing any character," she added. The show explores two realms - Earth and fictional Naagistan - to bring an enchanting yet hilarious tale of Iccha's journey. Mishkat said: "It is interesting. The focus is not only on comedy."
