New Delhi: 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' fame Gurucharan Singh, who went missing a few days ago, was last seen in Delhi. The actor who essayed the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi in the popular sitcom, was about to get married. According to sources, Gurucharan Singh also faced financial distress.
Gurucharan Singh's family reacts to actor's wedding plans
As reported by Indian Express, the actor's family said that they are unaware of any kind of marriage plans involving Gurucharan. They added that they don’t know where these reports are coming from. The relative also shared that Gurucharan’s father is not in a position to speak and that the family has no update on the case as of now.
Gurucharan Singh seen on CCTV footage
Gurucharan Singh went missing on April 22 after which an FIR was filed by his father at a police station in Delhi. On April 22, the actor left for Delhi's domestic airport to travel to Mumbai, but he never took a flight to his stated destination.
The Delhi Police had said the actor had withdrawn Rs 7,000 from an ATM in Delhi. This was confirmed by CCTV footage.
The police also tracked his mobile phone location, and as per the tracing information and his mobile details, he had been present in Delhi until April 24. Since then, his mobile phone has been switched off.
Gurucharan's co-actors on his disappearance
Meanwhile, Singh's co-actors have expressed difficulty in comprehending his sudden and mysterious disappearance.
Mandar Chandwadkar, known for his portrayal of Atmaram on the show, mentioned his inability to understand the abrupt vanishing of the actor.
During a media interaction, he said, "It is really surprising for me as well. He keeps travelling between Delhi and Mumbai. We met last at the wedding of Dilip Joshi's son in December. We had a nice time together, but we have not been in touch since then."
Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, who appeared on the show as Gurucharan's wife, said, "I just pray that there is some misunderstanding and he is doing fine. He is very spiritual and a good human being."
Gurucharan Singh goes missing
Security camera footage captured the 50-year-old actor crossing a road in the Palam area on Monday night.
"His flight was scheduled for 8.30 pm on Monday, but he was seen at a traffic intersection in Palam at around 9.14 pm," officials said. Further probe into the case is still on as the police is scanning through the CCTV footage.
