Diya Aur Baati Hum’s Kanika Maheshwari aka Meenakshi is BACK in Sequel

New Delhi: Star Plus show 'Diya Aur Baati Hum' has been a super hit and that is why makers decided to make the sequel of the show. The title of the show is ‘Tu Sooraj Mein Saanjh Piyaji’. However, Deepika Singh is not the sequel of the show but another popular face from Diya Aur Baati Hum is returning. According to report in entertainment portal Spotboye.com, Kanika Maheshwari aka Meenakshi Rathi will continue to play the same character in ‘Tu Sooraj Mein Saanjh Piyaji.’ The Jodi of Bhabho (Neelu Vaghela) and Meenakshi Rathi (Kanika Maheshwari) will be once again seen in the serial. As per the sources of the portal, the channel chased Kanika. While she wanted to experiment with the character, the makers were not keen on changing Meenakshi Rathi. Earlier it was being said that Kanika won’t return in the sequel because she was offered The Kapil Sharma Show, but things didn’t work out. So now, Kanika will continue her grey character. ‘Tu Sooraj Mein Saanjh Piyaji’ will take off from where Diya Aur Baati Hum ended. It will take a leap of 20 years and showcase the Rathi family with a few old and new faces. Sandhaya and Sooraj’s daughter Kanak Rathi will play the lead role. In the first season, Deepika Singh and Anas Rashid played the lead roles. Stay tuned for all news and updates.
