Dipika Kakar Shares Health Update, Says Still Too Weak To Hold Son Ruhaan

Dipika Kakar shares an emotional health update post liver tumour surgery, revealing she’s still too weak to lift son Ruhaan. Her mother also broke down in a vlog, thanking fans for their prayers.

In her latest vlog, Dipika opened up about the next phase of her treatment, revealing that she started targeted therapy on July 10.

Television actress Dipika Kakar, who has been undergoing treatment for a stage 2 liver tumour since May 2025, has now begun oral targeted therapy following her major surgery last month. The actress had earlier undergone a grueling 14-hour operation in June to remove a tumour the size of a tennis ball. Dipika and her husband, actor Shoaib Ibrahim, have been candid about her health journey through their YouTube vlogs, keeping fans informed with regular updates.

Dipika opens up about next phase of her treatment

In her latest vlog, Dipika opened up about the next phase of her treatment, revealing that she started targeted therapy on July 10. While she is taking every precaution as advised by her doctors, she acknowledged that the side effects are already beginning to take a toll.

Describing how she felt on the first day of therapy, Dipika said, “I am feeling okay, but we will only know in a few days. I am taking all the precautionary measures that the doctor has advised. I have been told to stay hydrated, eat well, and also keep nourishing my skin because this treatment can cause ulcers in the mouth, palms, and feet, and make the skin scaly. Also, I am advised not to go under direct sunlight, to wear gloves, and to put on socks at all times.”

However, by the second day, she began to feel the physical impact of the treatment. “It’s my second day of target therapy today, and I was fine until afternoon; however, my energy levels dropped suddenly. I was only lying down the whole time,” she shared.

Shoaib also mentioned in his vlog that Dipika had started developing tongue ulcers by the second day of the therapy. Given the possibility of recurrence, her ongoing treatment could extend for up to two years.

Dipika says she is unable to lift her son Ruhaan

Dipika also expressed how much she misses being able to physically care for her infant son, Ruhaan. “I just want to regain so much strength now that I can lift Ruhaan in my arms once again, but I am still not able to do that. I sit with him on the floor while we play, because even when I sit on a sofa, I cannot lift Ruhaan, which would need some more healing. So far, the recovery is going fine. I am trying to keep myself busy and connected with you, but I am not able to do much,” she said.

One of the most moving moments from her vlog was a video of her mother, filmed two days after Dipika returned from the hospital. Fighting back tears, her mother said, “I thank each one of you with folded hands, it is because of your prayers that my daughter has returned to me. Please continue praying for her. I was very scared to see her like that, but she, Ruhaan, and Shoaib stood strong throughout. As a mother, I plead to you all to keep praying for my daughter.”

On the professional front, Dipika was last seen on 'Celebrity MasterChef', but had to withdraw from the show midway due to health concerns.
