Television actor Shoaib Ibrahim has opened up about his wife Dipika Kakar’s ongoing health battle, revealing that she recently underwent a marathon 14-hour surgery for stage 2 liver cancer.

Shoaib Ibrahim gives wife Dipika Kakar's health update

In a series of emotional Instagram Stories shared on Wednesday, Shoaib updated fans about Dipika’s condition, expressing gratitude for their support while asking for continued prayers during this difficult time.

Updating followers late Tuesday night, Shoaib wrote, “Hi everyone, Sorry I couldn't update you last night, it was a long surgery. She was in OT for 14 hrs. But Alhamdulillah, everything went well. Dipi is currently in the ICU.”

He went on to reassure well-wishers, saying, “She's in some pain, but she's stable and doing okay. Thank you all dil se (from my heart) for your love, prayers, and support, it truly means a lot. I will update you all once she's out of the ICU. Thank you once again. Keep praying for her.”

Dipika Kakar's cancer surgery

A day prior, Shoaib had informed fans about the scheduled procedure, sharing, “Dippi's surgery is scheduled to happen tomorrow morning. It's going to be a long surgery... she needs all your prayers & strength the most ... please keep her in your prayers.” The surgery had previously been postponed to allow Dipika time to recover from a bout of flu, as Shoaib mentioned in his vlog. He also revealed that she had been suffering from gall bladder stone-related pain.

Dipika on her cancer diagnosis

Dipika had earlier spoken about her diagnosis, revealing that her health journey began with stomach pain that led to a shocking discovery. In a heartfelt note to her fans, she wrote, “As you all are aware last few weeks have been quite difficult for us... walking into the hospital for a pain in the upper area of my stomach... and then finding out its a tennis ball size tumour in the liver and then Finding out that the tumour is Second stage Malignant (Cancerous) ... it has been one of the most difficult time we have seen, experienced!”

Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim, one of television’s most adored couples, met on the set of Sasural Simar Ka and tied the knot in 2018. They welcomed their son, Ruhaan, on June 21, 2023.
