Barkha Bisht recently opened up about her marriage with actor Indraneil Sengupta, sharing painful details about their separation. After being married for 15 years, the couple split four years ago, and Barkha has now spoken about what led to their breakup. In a recent interview, she shared that Indraneil had been unfaithful, a revelation that deeply affected her.

In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Barkha admitted that despite her efforts to salvage their marriage, Indraneil ultimately chose to leave. Reflecting on their relationship, she said, “Indraneil chose to move out of the marriage for reasons best known to him. If it were in my hands, I would still be married. We had a good marriage. For four years, I have constantly felt that I wish I was lesser in everything—maybe things could have been okay. Infidelity, cheating, is a choice. The second choice is what you do after that.” 

Rumors had circulated about Indraneil's alleged affair with Bengali actress Ishaa Saha, and Barkha shared that when she confronted him, his response was far from satisfactory. She said, “Indraneil made a choice—maybe he can justify it now. He can give a hundred reasons, as he has to justify his actions.” 

Barkha on her separation

The actress also shared how the experience shattered her confidence and trust. “Jo dil ka tootna kehte hain—heartache—I felt it. It feels like physical pain. It was an experience I had to go through. My belief in humanity broke at that time, not my faith in marriage or love and it is still somewhere broken. The worst thing you can do to a woman is break her trust because she can’t take betrayal,” she confessed. 

On rumours about dating Karan Veer Mehra

Amidst these personal struggles, Barkha also addressed speculation about her dating life. She said that she was trolled after supporting her 'Couple of Mistakes' co-star Karan Veer Mehra during his Bigg Boss 18 stint. Some even linked him to the downfall of her marriage.  

Dismissing these rumors, she said, “Log keh rahe hain, I know. But like I said, bohot special log hain meri life mein. Jaise Karan Veer Mehra. Beech mein logon ne ye bhi kaha ki mera aur Karan Veer ka kuchh chakkar chal raha hai. A lot of people trolled me over it. Especially jab main usko Bigg Boss mein support karne gayi, sabne bola ki issi wajah se iski shaadi tooti hai. Kyunki itna Karan-Karan karti rehti hai.” 

Barkha on her equation with Ashish Sharma

Another name linked to Barkha was actor Ashish Sharma. She clarified that while he is a very dear friend, they are not in a romantic relationship. “People are saying we are dating. I have never hidden my relationships. When I’m seriously dating someone, I have never hidden it,” she said. When asked about the possibility of a future romance, she responded playfully, “Potential toh har ladka ho sakta hai waise. Karan Veer bhi.”  

However, she emphasized that her priority remains her 13-year-old daughter, Meira. 

She also acknowledged the support she has received from Ashish during tough times. “But of course, there are special people who have a special place in my life. And there are people who are helping me grow. Ashish is somebody who is helping me grow as a person. Mujhe achha lagta hai ki mujhe koi back karta hai, support karta hai, somebody who gives me wings and says you can do this,” she shared. 

Barkha and Indraneil first met on the sets of 'Pyaar Ke Do Naam' and tied the knot in 2008. They finalised their divorce in 2022, marking the end of their long-standing relationship.
