Aditya Singh Rajput's Mother Reacts To Speculations Around His Death: 'Don’t Malign Name Of My Son'

Reacting to a few reports that actor Aditya Singh Rajput's death could be due to a suspected drug overdose, Aditya’s mother has appealed to people not to malign the name of her son and her family.

New Delhi: 'Splitsvilla' Season 9 fame actor Aditya Singh Rajput was found dead in the bathroom of his home on Monday. The 32-year-old actor was living in a shared apartment on the 11th floor of the Lashkaria Heights building in the posh Oshiwara area. Reacting to a few reports that the death could be due to a suspected drug overdose, Aditya’s mother has appealed to people not to malign the name of her son and her family.

“By putting such unverified claims, they are maligning the name of my son and my family. This is a cruel thing to do,” she told Hindustan Times.

Recalling her last conversation with Aditya, she said, “On Monday afternoon, I noticed that my entire chat history with my son had got deleted. Not being so technologically savvy, I called him around 2.15 pm to ask what might have happened. He told me there was some problem with WhatsApp and he would text me again. However, he didn’t say anything about being unwell.”

Usha Rajput, who came to Mumbai from Delhi late on Monday night, also shared how he got the news of his son’s demise. She received a call from one of Aditya’s close friends. “I panicked and was shaking; I had to call a neighbour to pack my bags and help me book a ticket to Mumbai,” she told Hindustan Times.

On Wednesday Mumbai Police told media that the postmortem has been done and  the doctors have kept the cause of death report reserved.

The police officials said that the body of Aditya Singh Rajput was handed over to his family and his last rites were performed at Oshiwara crematorium on Tuesday.

"The postmortem of actor Aditya Singh Rajput has been done. The doctors have kept the cause of death report in reserve. His viscera sample has been sent for a forensic test. His body has been handed over to his family and his last rites were performed at Oshiwara crematorium yesterday," ANI quoted Mumbai Police officials as saying.

Rajput was born in Uttarakhand but settled in Delhi and started as a model-cum-actor as a child star in the glamour industry around 20 years ago.

Over the years, he became a familiar face on more than 300 advertisements and spots, and acted in films like "Krantiveer", "Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara", "Love" and others.

On the small screen, he was seen in shows like 'Cambala Investigation Agency', 'Splitsvilla - 9', 'Love', 'Ashiqui', 'Code Red', 'Rajputana', 'Aawaz-9', 'Bad Boys' and more.
