Kanguva Box Office Collection Day 2: Suriya’s Fantasy Period-Action Drama Faces Steep Drop On Second Day
Suriya's latest film, 'Kanguva', has experienced a substantial decline in box office collections on its second day.
New Delhi: On its second day of release, the highly anticipated fantasy action movie ‘Kanguva’, starring Suriya, had a substantial drop in box office revenues. The film, which premiered on November 14, had a strong opening day, but its lackluster reviews and disappointing box office results have left many wondering how well it will perform in the long run.
Kanguva Box Office Collection Day 2
Early estimates show that Kanguva's earnings have dropped to barely Rs 9 crore in India on the second day, down from an amazing Rs 58.62 crore on the opening day globally. Many critics felt the film's plot was too weak and the pace was too irregular, despite Suriya's stellar performance.
As per the trade analyst Sacnilk, the total occupancy rate for the film in Tamil Nadu was 18.57% on day two, reflecting a clear decline in attendance. Evening shows improved to 16.54% and night shows to 25.46%, respectively. In comparison, the Telugu screenings did considerably better with 26.61% occupancy, while the Hindi screenings did quite badly at 11.03%.
People are expressing their dissatisfaction with the film's sound mix and narrative, which has led to bad word-of-mouth and a drop in box office statistics.
Industry sources are optimistic that ‘Kanguva’ might recover some of its lost ground over the weekend, thanks to the film's international appeal and the fact that it is playing in various languages in India and beyond.
