Ranbir And Alia Stopped From Visiting Mahakaleshwar Temple By Bajrang Dal Activists In Ujjain During 'Brahmastra' Promotions

Ranbir and Alia were to offer their prayers at the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, but their visit was hindered by members of the right wing, who gathered at the temple's gate and created a ruckus.

New Delhi: Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are busy promoting their upcoming film 'Brahmastra', that releases on September 9, in all corners. The couple recently headed to Ujjain on Tuesday, for the film's promotions, after successful events in Chennai, Hyderabad and Mumbai. But it seems like the actors did not receive a very warm welcome in the city.

Ranbir and Alia were to offer their prayers at the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, but their visit was hindered by members of the right wing, who gathered at the temple's gate and created a ruckus by showing black flags. The protestors gathered at the gate meant for entries of VVIPs and prevented the actors' visit. The police had to take charge and use batons to bring the crowd under control.

The protestors gathered at the temple after Alia Bhatt took to her Instgram to inform fans about their Ujjain visit.

With the boycott trend in Bollywood, Ayan Mukerji's directorial is facing a lot of backlash as netizens are trending the hashtag for various reasons. 'Brahmastra' has been in the making for over four years and is one of the most anticipated films of Bollywood. Based on the mythological story of Astras, Brahmastra is a science fiction thriller that is being made as a trilogy, with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt as the protagonists.

'Brahmāstra' is a new original universe inspired by deeply rooted concepts and tales from Indian history but set in the modern world, with epic storytelling of fantasy, adventure, good vs evil, love, and hope; all told using cutting-edge technology and never-seen-before visual spectacles. The story is set in modern-day India, against the premise of a secret society called the Brahmānsh; who generation after generation have protected many divine ‘Astras’ (weapons) that were created in ancient India and safeguarded from the eyes of the world.

The most powerful and the most deadly amongst these divine weapons; the Lord of all the Other Astras - named after the most powerful weapon of the Gods, the Brahmastra, is now waking up. And it threatens to completely destroy the universe we know today.

Along with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, the film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Mouni Roy in pivotal roles. The film also has a cameo appearance by Shah Rukh Khan.
