Pakistani Actor Adnan Siddiqui Slams Priyanka Chopra For Calling Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy 'South Asian'
Adnan criticised Priyanka for using the term "South Asian" to describe Pakistani filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy.
New Delhi: Priyanka Chopra recently congratulated Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy on her Instagram stories. She breaks barriers by becoming the first person of colour and female to helm a Star Wars picture. She's set to direct the next Star Wars sequel, Rise of Skywalker. Priyanka sent a message praising Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy and referring to her as "South Asian". Adnan Siddiqui, who appeared in Sridevi's last film ‘Mom’, has spoken out against Priyanka Chopra. Adnan blasted the Bollywood star for using the term "South Asian" to describe Pakistani filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy.
Priyanka Chopra posted a photo of Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy on her Instagram and congratulated her on becoming the "first woman of colour and south-asian descent" to helm a Star Wars film. The caption on Priyanka's post said, “What a historic moment @sharmeenobaidchinoy. So so proud of you my friend. May the force be with you!."
On Twitter, Adnan Siddiqui commented that Sharmeen is Pakistani and, later, South Asian, and that Priyanka Chopra should have acknowledged it. He wrote, "With due respect, @priyankachopra Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy is a Pakistani first just to brush up your knowledge. Much like the way you flaunt your Indian nationality whenever you get the opportunity before claiming to be a South Asian."
