Malayalam Actor Nivin Pauly Cleared Of Sexual Assault Charges

The case dates back to September when a woman accused Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly and five others of sexual assault.

Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly received a clean chit from the police on Wednesday in a recent sexual assault case. The investigation team submitted a report to the local court recommending Pauly’s removal from the list of accused. However, the inquiry into the remaining five individuals involved in the case will continue.

According to ANI, "Actor Nivin Pauly has been given a clean chit in the sexual assault case registered against him. Based on the investigation, the investigating officer has filed a report in the Kothamangalam court to remove his name as an accused in the case."

The case dates back to September when a woman accused Pauly and five others of sexual assault. Pauly, 40, immediately denied the allegations, stating that he had never met or communicated with the complainant. Shortly afterward, he filed a formal complaint with the State Police Chief (SPC), requesting an investigation into what he termed as “baseless” allegations. Pauly asserted that he was determined to fight these accusations, not only for himself but also on behalf of others who face similar allegations.

Pauly’s name attracted considerable public attention, especially following the release of the Justice Hema Committee report on August 19, which documented the adverse conditions and instances of exploitation faced by women in the Malayalam film industry.

Nivin Pauly, a two-time Kerala Film Awards winner, transitioned from a career in software engineering to the film industry in 2010. He has since appeared in over 50 films, many of which have been box-office successes. In 2016, he also became a producer with the release of Action Hero Biju, which was well-received under his production banner, Pauly Jr. Pictures.
