'Extremely Disheartened': Sushant Singh Rajput's Sisters React After Delhi HC Dismisses Plea Against Films On Late Actor

The Delhi High Court dismissed Sushant Singh Rajput's father's petition against the proposed films and projects being made about his life.

New Delhi: The Delhi Hight Court on Thursday (June 10) quashed a petition filed by Sushant Singh Rajput’s father KK Singh to stay the release of the upcoming films based on late actor’s life. Earlier this year, Mr. Singh filed an application in the court, seeking a restraining order on films and other ventures using Sushant’s name.

A bench of Justice Sanjeev Narula dismissed the application, refusing to stay the release of ‘Nyay: The Justice’, which is reportedly based on Sushant.

The ‘Raabta’ actor’s sisters Priyanka Singh and Meetu Singh express their displeasure after the Delhi HC dismissed the plea moved by their father. Meetu Singh tweeted, “Extremely disheartened by the judgement” while Priyanka wrote, “Most devastated and baffled beyond words.”

Sushant’s father filed an application in the Delhi High Court after learning about films based on his life, like ‘Suicide or Murder: A Star Was Lost’, ‘Nyay: The Justice’ and ‘Shashank’. He expressed apprehension that movies, web series, books and other material might be published which would affect the reputation of the actor and his family.

According to a report in IANS, Mr. Singh sought damages of over Rs 2 crore from the makers of the films for ‘loss of reputation and harassment’ to his family in the suit.

Lawyers Vikas Singh and Varun Singh, who represented KK Singh, contended that the filmmakers are taking advantage of the situation for getting commercial gains.

The court observed that Sushant’s father filed the suit close to the release of ‘Nyay’, after substantial time and effort were expended by the makers in producing and promoting their project. "For this reason, the balance of convenience lies entirely in favor of the defendants," the court was quoted as saying by IANS.
