Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 Beats Baahubali 2 To Become Second Highest-Grossing Hindi Movie in India

By outgrossing the box office success of 'Baahubali 2', the movie has cemented its place in the history of cinema.

New Delhi: 'Gadar 2', starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, outperformed SS Rajamouli's 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion' at the domestic box office. By outgrossing the box office success of 'Baahubali 2', the movie has cemented its place in the history of cinema. According to Sacnilk.com, the movie overtook 'Baahubali 2' to become the second-highest-grossing Hindi movie. 

According to early estimates, 'Gadar 2' earned Rs 1.45 crore net in India on its thirty-first day, reports Sacnilk.com. 'Gadar 2' grossed Rs 284.63 crore in its first week, Rs 134.47 crore the following week, and Rs 63.35 crore the week after that. The movie grossed Rs 512.35 crores in total revenue.

'Pathaan' is currently ahead of 'Gadar 2'. 'Pathaan', which premiered in January of this year, and 'Baahubali 2' (Hindi) earned Rs 510.99 and Rs 524.62 crores, respectively, in India. Since its release, 'Gadar 2' has broken numerous records. It reached 450 crore rupees in the shortest time in Hindi film history. The film, which released on August 11, raked in Rs 40.1 crore on its opening day, making it the second-highest opener of the year. 

Recently, Sunny shared a clip from the 'Aap Ki Adalat' show in which the host greets the actor and the audience applauds him loudly before giving him a standing ovation. 

When asked by the host, reason for getting emotional, the actor said, “Jis tarah se ye log khush ho rahe hai jo maine kiya hai to yakeen nahi ho raha main iske layak hu ya nahi (The way these people are happy with what I have done, I am not sure whether I deserve it or not)." 

'Gadar 2' is a sequel to 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' which was released in 2001. The film revolves around Tara Singh, who travels back to Pakistan in 1971 to save his son Charanjeet Singh from the Pakistani Army. The major roles in the movie are played by Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, Manish Wadhwa, Simrat Kaur, Luv Sinha, and Gaurav Chopra.
